Endoscopic Facelift
It is a surgery that is generally applied to middle aged and older male and female patients. Sometimes, the surgery might be needed at a younger age. The sagging skin is not the only culprit in the aging look on the face. Subcutaneous tissues, like the muscles and fat tissues of the face, have also loosened and sagged with the effect of gravity.
With Endoscopic Facelift,
- Eyebrows are lifted;
- Mid-face is rejuvenated;
- Neck is tightened.
Brow Lift
Involving endoscopes and cameras, this surgery is performed using a thin and long endoscope with a light at one end which is connected to a video camera. The endoscope is inserted into 3-5 small incisions made in the scalp. Thus, the surgeon can operate by seeing the inside of the forehead thanks to the endoscope and performs the surgery by inserting surgical instruments through other incisions.
- Surgery: The endoscopic method allows incisions to be made in very small sizes. The loose skin and muscles that cause wrinkles are seen on the screen and corrected. The eyebrows are freed from their base and pulled upwards and placed in the areas they are supposed to be with special threads. Thus, the eyebrows are adapted to their new desired location. The operation ends with removal of the skin over the incision made on the forehead, when necessary. The incision is usually limited to a few centimeters depending on the extent of droopiness.
- Advantage: With this method, the forehead is not widened by pulling back the hairline. Another advantage of the method is that there is little or no pain. In addition, the operation time is shorter compared to the traditional method. Less edema and shorter return of patients to their social life are the most important advantages. The operation takes about 1-1.5 hours.
Endoscopic Mid-Face Rejuvenation
With the effect of gravity, aging effects occur also in the mid-face over the years. The downward sagging of the fat pad on the cheekbones causes the fullness on the cheekbone to disappear. These subcutaneous tissues hanging downward appear as a skin fold on the nasolabial fold, which is the fold extending from the nose to the edge of the lip, and causes this fold to deepen.
Endoscopic facial rejuvenation surgery is a method performed to lift the face without leaving a visible incision scar. It is a method used after for drooping eyebrows and sagging fat pads on the cheekbones and cheeks. The surgical results of this method are extremely promising. In this surgery, which was developed to rejuvenate the face, the sagging mid-face region can be improved again by intervening through very small incisions hidden in the hair, looking at the screen with the help of an endoscopic camera.
It has been applied for approximately 10 years. It is one of the techniques used to correct sagging on the face, forehead and eyebrows.
- Surgery: It is applied by making a 2 cm long incision in the scalp from the temple area. The camera is placed through the incision area. All tissues of the temple area and cheek area are stripped from the bone. These tissues that are loosened the bone are pulled upwards and fixed. The incision areas are closed with hidden stitches. Since the incisions are small and the surgery is blood-free, the recovery time is also shorter than the traditional facelift procedure.
However, in patients with excess skin, we can sometimes prevent excess skin with the addition of traditional facelift surgery. Therefore, a thorough examination and 3D evaluation of the face are required before the operation.
Endoscopic surgeries are currently used successfully for facial rejuvenation, brow lifting, forehead rejuvenation and neck rejuvenation. The surgical techniques to be applied are selected and combined as necessary after determining the needs of the patient in preoperative planning.
- Advantage: In this method, the size of the scars is 1-2 cm, which is much less than in the traditional facelift, and these can be hidden in the scalp. Another advantage of the method is that there is little or no pain. In addition, the operation time is shorter compared to the traditional method. In addition, less edema and shorter return of patients to their social life are the most important advantages. The operation takes about 1.5-2 hours.
These surgeries can also be performed in combination. They can be combined as brow lifting and mid-face lift. The operation takes 2-3 hours in total. It requires an overnight stay in the hospital. The stitches are either self-absorbing stitches or removed later, depending on where the stiches are located and the type of the surgery. Most of the swelling subside within 7-10 days, and the remaining swelling will resolve within 3-6 weeks. Full recovery may take up to 6-8 months.
